Let us introduce ourselves - Rosie and Eléonore here. Co-Founders of North South Venture. When we created this brand, we never thought we would be using it to raise awareness for Lyme Disease and other tick bourne illnesses. But following a road-trip around North America in 2016 (we LOVED to travel, hence our name and slogan... life is an adventure!) Eléonore became tragically unwell. Her body became a ticking time bomb, affected from head to toe and has nearly lost her life on more than once occasion. Now - 2021 - she is still battling Lyme Disease every day from a bed or wheelchair as she is unable to walk, but we are extremely grateful she is here to continue the fight. This logo that has turned out to be a pretty powerful way of raising awareness originated when Eléonore and Rosie took to doodling at her bedside in 2019. We took our hand drawn image that had so much meaning behind it, and we decided to use it for something bigger than ourselves. We have created and designed the Ticked Off logo to raise awareness for Lyme Disease, a bacterial infection that can be spread to humans by infected ticks - which if left untreated, can be fatal. When Eléonore first fell ill, we had no clue what Lyme Disease even was - we had never heard of it here in the UK. This resulted in delayed treatment which can be fatal or completely life changing if it isn't caught early. Like many other warriors out there, nearly 4 years later Eléonore is still having to battle this disease every day. We want to change that, and break that cycle. No one should suffer under the radar, or perhaps not even know why they're suffering at all.
Our hope and idea behind this design is to spread awareness, ignite conversations and save lives. Many Doctors are not familiar with treating Lyme Disease patients, and there is currently no accurate test for this disease and no definitive cure.
A portion of the proceeds from any and all of our Ticked Off Sweatshirts, T-Shirts or Beanie Hats will be donated to various Lyme Disease charities which will benefit research and promote awareness. Whilst the warriors battling Lyme Disease may not have the strength to make noise - we can make our voices heard on their behalf.
